Chair of Governors Lisa Carter

I moved to Edington in 2015 and having recently returned to the area I wanted to get involved in our local community ideally using my skill set as a qualified accountant. After discussions with the chair of governors at Catcott and with encouragement from my employer and professional body I joined the governing board in 2016. Since then I have  primarily focused on the financial review and facilities management of the school. Although I am most comfortable talking about budgets and financials I really enjoy supporting the school to make sure the pupils get the best all round experience possible. My daughter is a pupil at the school.

Vice-Chair of Governor's John Boult

I have been a member of the governing board since 2017, soon after my son started at Catcott.  I live in Chilton Polden and enjoy getting involved in community events, especially anything that gets children involved. In business I am a management consultant, focussing on performance improvement, so I’m interested with constantly raising the standards at Catcott whilst not losing sight of the broader needs of our pupils.

 

Frances Barr

I have been a Governor at Catcott School since 2018, and I am currently responsible for Governor training and CPD. I also hold the role of Play Governor in support of outdoor play and learning (OPAL) at the school.

I have lived in Burtle with my family since 1995. I’m a veterinary surgeon, and worked for many years as a clinician and teacher at the University of Bristol. I then moved on to work in postgraduate veterinary education. I am now retired.

I’ve been involved with Shapwick and Polden cricket club for many years, and my husband and adult son still play for the club. I’m also an active local volunteer for Somerset Wildlife Trust.

Catcott School is a very important part of the local community, and I’m committed to working with the staff, parents and children to allow the school to flourish.

Martin Stanley

Martin joined the governing body in the Spring of 2022 as a co-opted governor after moving into the area and has two children at the school.  Martin joins us with prior experience having been a governor for 2 years at a different school. 

Martin is passionate about helping young people to achieve the best they can, giving them maximum opportunities to discover their full potential through education and extra-curricular activities alike.

Professionally Martin has a degree in Engineering and works in the data analytics industry with a number of organisations to help them get the most out of their data to improve the experiences of their customers. 

Paul Moate

I am a local farmers son growing up in the local area attending Bawdrip and Chedzoy schools, and then later to Brymore School of which I am also a governor of the trust. My eldest son Oliver finished Catcott in July 2022, and my youngest child Jacob is currently in Year 6. My background is property development and events. As a parent governor my role is to manage the digital portfolio of the school.

Asa Chilcott 

I've lived in Catcott for 10 years and have two children at the school. Prior to Covid I volunteered with Outdoor Learning, then joined the Catcott Governing Body in the summer term of 2022.

I am an Engineering Manager for a global technology company designing marine exploration equipment used in both the oil & gas and new renewable industries.

In my spare time I enjoy family days out, am a competent DIYer, explore the great outdoors and play guitar, write and record songs. As a family we have always enjoyed sharing books together. My favourite children's authors and illustrators are Benji Davies (The Storm Whale series, Grandad's Island.....), Jon Klassen (I want my hat back, The rock from the sky.....), and Oliver Jeffers (Lost & Found, What we'll build.....).

 

Rebecca Randall

I am Becky and live in the lovely village of Catcott with Andy, our two sons's Spencer and Jack, and our red setter Rolo a minor celebrity at Catcott Primary School gates some morning's. 

Andy and I run our own local business and have extended family in the area.

Being a governor is rewarding for me, and it great to play a part in this fantastic school and the wider Polden community.
